    image problem gallery page

hi folks, i am so new to zen cart, that the water drips from behind my ears! in fact, i am the store owner, who has been thrown into (out to?!) this sea to figure out how to configure her store since my original designer doesn't feel compelled to help. SOOOOO.... we have a rubber art stamp business, our customers create beautiful art work, cards, altered art etc, and we want to display them in a gallery. www.yankiwi.com these are NOT for sale. so creating a sub category in my products dosesn't seem to work, since there are not quanities nor prices. i have been trying to use define_pages to create the gallery, having three images across with descriptive text, but the boxes move when i try using tables, and just insterting the images doesn't seem to work either. any thots? i'm going crazy, i'm not a web designer, and i know just a little to get myself around the store... but we really want to look professional. thanks!

I would suggest you check out the Document-General product type (admin > Catalog > Product Types). They will appear in their own Documents categories box which can be customized to appear as a gallery.

Document-General is made for displaying documents or items that are not for sale.

Have a look at (sorry, site offline). Aside from all the templates to observe in action, you can see all the Zen Cart demo store installation, which includes one or two documents.

    image problem Re: gallery page

hi glenn, i checked that template demo, cool site, but unfortunately, that's not what i want. since these are works of art, they are not for sale, i don't want the price info listed, nor a sold out button. i'm back to figuring out how to make cells work i guess, unless anyone else has an idea out there?
    thanks

Document-General product type will never have a price or add to cart or sold out button.
The demo store has only one item that is the general type, and one that is a Document-Product which is for sale. There really isn't much info about Document-General in the demo. I would suggest that you just create a few and see what you can do with it.

I did a bit of testing on my site (link below) and have up (for a limited time) a doc-gen category in a Documents category box, and two documents in it.

You need to create a new category, and then go back and edit it. Then you will see at the bottom of the page a dropdown for product types. Select document general and save.

When you add a product to this you will get a different add page, with only a description textbox and an add image function.

Note - you need to check "Add Include Subcategories" before saving the doc-gen edit; if you don't do that, the edit apparently doesn't take effect. Dunno why...

i will take a look at the docs again, thanks for testing, should i ASSume one can turn the item number and manufacturing off in attributes?
i freaked out on sunday, as i did click all subfolders, and made ALL my products disappear! wow talk about sending a chill or wave of fright thru my whole body! yikes. but i was able to re-enable, is that a word? and got everything back. i'll try to work on this when i get home. thanks again for the brainstorming!

I tried this and so far so good.. I want to use this feature to create a gallery within ZenCart.. I'm halfway there..

I only have one question.. How do I remove the "Add a Review" and "Tell a Friend" buttons from JUST this product category.. This way it will look like a gallery like this site: http://live2knit.com.au/store/index....index&cPath=26
