Limit # of products in boxes

Forgive me if this has been addressed before but I couldn't find an answer after a quick search.

I have the "New products for ____" box showing on my main and category pages. Is there a way to limit how many products are displayed in these boxes? I only want 1 row of 3 products.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Yeah, I've seen that setting but is there a way to limit the number of rows?
