prod info pg: 2 description fields? (general, details)

First, I apologize if this post is miscategorized, I was kind of guessing. Admin, feel free to move it. Second, I've searched both the book and the forum but couldn't find this question. If it's already been answered feel free to post the relevant link.

I'm in the process of setting up my first zencart store (for clothing) and I'd like to know how to have 2 separate text fields for descriptions on my product info page, such as one next to the photo and name for a brief description and one lower on the page for details. I've found that it's too overwhelming to users to have all product info listed as one big text block, but it's important that the info is provided.

The product info section in the admin interface only has a single description field and I cannot find any place where I can add another, or modify the fields for this page. I've seen that there is a download for using tabs ( http://tinyurl.com/2ah9m5 ), but I'd rather have something simpler to start.

It would also be ideal if I could divide the detail section into individual headings/fields --
fit, materials, care -- where I could just enter the text for each. For example if you look at this store http://tinyurl.com/292swo it would be as if I had substituted "fit" for "model", "materials" for "shipping weight", and "care" for "19 units in stock". Is there a way to add my own fields/attributes/classifications in this manner so I could structure each product info page to my needs and enter all product info at once?

Create a new Product type and substitute your custom fields for those you want to use. See the Book Product Type in the Downloads section.

ah, so what you're saying is that instead of using the Product-General product type for an item listing, I'll make my own product type that contains the fields I want and use that as my default? and this product type, along with the fields it contains will be accessible through the admin interface like the others?

The manual doesn't even mention that as an option, so I thought I'd have to manipulate the Product-General product type through the source files or a template.

hmmm, I just went to the downloads page and there's no Book Product Type:

I recently set up a new product type by duplicating the Music one. It takes a bit of dedication, but is well worth it in the end, as it does not affect the core code.

thanks. In general I find it difficult to locate the info needed on zencart. :)
I took a look at that link and on a theoretical level that seems to makes sense. Happy to see there's a straightforward solution, if not a necessarily easy one. :)
