Need help with a Shipping Module -- calc based on first 3 dig of zip code

Maybe some one could answer my question. This might not be the right Thread for this. or it the answer maybe be in another Thread. I haven't found it yet.
My question is, Is there a shipping mod that can use the first 3 numbers of a zip code to calculate the shipping cost. My supplier use one like that I believe. The shipping rate they charge me is base on the first 3 numbers. I don't do any of my shipping, it is all drop shipment to my customers from them. They use UPS for shipping, so I can't use that to calculate my shipping or could I. I don't need to make any shipping labels or anything like that, so what could I use to get the right shipping cost. Right now I'm manually adding it to each Item I list. I go to see what they charge for shipping the Item and base it on that. I have over 12 hundred + Item I'm selling. Thank you.

Have you tried setting up your site with their Zip Code and checking the UPS shipping charges by adding the real weight of your products in?

Hi Linda, and thank for the reply. Who's zip code? I don't know what the weight would be for each Item. I'm using the weight for my per-Item shipping charge now. Like I said I'm selling 1200+ Item and will be adding more. I just didn't want to have to manually keep putting in the shipping cost. Or maybe I'm not understanding you.

You are guessing at the shipping charge, or you are getting it from "somewhere" ...

If you are getting it from "somewhere" and they are using UPS, where is "somewhere" ... ?

If you were to ask "somewhere" what the weights are on the products, you could setup your products to emulate the same thing and add a handling fee if need be to cover slight variations and then this would be automated because ...

If you were to put in the Zip Code for "somewhere" in the Shipping/Packing settings ... the shipping charges would match up ...

Thank you Again for your help. Actually I guess I need to set it up by the percentage of what the Item cost. Example would be If the Orders is $29.00 and under it would cost $7.50 to ship. Orders $30.00 to $499.99 27% of what the Item cost to get my shipping price. That way no matter what zone in the US I ship to it will be enough to cover UPS Ground. Any Idea how to go about this. Thank you.

You could customize a shipping module to work on percentage ...

You might also search on: percentage

in the Downloads as I believe there is already one written for this ...
