    Default Problems with Check out

I have noticed in last few days my Zen cart installation has been doing some strange things. In the last stage of checkout the system times out and while doing this it generates a download file that pops up in my Firefox download box "index.php" It appears the order hasn't been completed and when you press confirm again it does the same thing...timesout generates a new download file "index.php(1)" and stays at the confirm checkout page.

The interesting thing is that the orders are actually going through and I am receiving duplicate and triplicate orders from customers depending on how many times they have pressed the confirm check out button.

I checked with my site host and they tell me that my site might need to be re-indexed. I have not added or changed anything on the site (the Zen cart is my site) and this problem has just started up. What would be involved in re-index my Zen cart?

See below - Zen Cart Error Log.

I'm not sure what your host is referring to by "reindexed".
If they mean your database might need to be repaired or optimized, you should be able to do a repair from your hosting control panel, or do optimization of individual tables via phpMyAdmin's Operations tab.

    When did this start happening?
What has been happening on the server around that time?

You might need to compare your site's code against the original code and see what customizations may have busted things.

If it's hanging during checkout and orders are getting saved but the screen is not completing, then maybe the email step is failing? Has anything changed for your email settings lately? Passwords? Server changes? php upgrades?

Thanks for your reply. I searched the forum here and found another of your posts referring to re-indexing and how it would be next to impossible to completely re-index all your data files, especially not really knowing what the heck your doing. I thought your last comments on this topic were so good I sent and email to my Host technician and basically told him to stop blaming what is an obvious server issue on me or on the script (which had not been changed in months). After I chewed him out he called in his Data manager and apparently they found some problem with one of the nodes on the server and within 2 hours my sight was running better then ever. Thanks for the tips.

One other thing I wanted to ask you; You mentioned that in Tools, Store Manager, you would find a site optimization selection. I checked into mine and didn't see any thing like that in the Store Manager area.

    Thanks
    James

I'm glad they got it working!
Sometimes it takes just explaining enough to them to realize they can't give you a "standard answer" and just hope you'll go away. :)

You must be running older code. That option was added in v1.3.5. You can still do it table-by-table using phpMyAdmin.
