how to add addional shipping/checkout fee? (ie insurance)

I am sure this has been covered, but while I continue to look...

I want to add an additional and optional fee to my shipping costs. this would be applied at checkout by customer selecting to include/ not include the cost. The fee will be for shipping insurance and will be set to $2 regardless of the number of items, weight, or total cost for simplicity.

I can imagine applying this to other one-time checkout things as well (such as include catalog, etc) so I dont necesarily need it to be a shipping-only inclusion, just something added on, sopmewhere, at checkout... so - how do I add an optional item/fee at checkout?

I need something similar myself as the module I am currently using just wont work out shipping costs correctly.

So I would prefer to use the zone or table rate (probs the zone) but have an option at checkout so that customers can choose to include insurance for their order.

Is there a way to do this? Thank you.

I found a module here http://www.zen-cart.com/index.php?ma...roducts_id=348 which allows you to include an insurance option in the checkout.

It's the easiest module to instl with just 2 files and works great. I already have it going on my site. You can use it with zone rates as well as others and it is easy enough to configure in admin.
