Simple Stylesheet Questions

HI Guys

Ok, my stylesheet works fine in Internet explorer, but in Safari and Firefox the only category which doesn't change colour on hovering is the category list in the left box
Is there something I can change to make it work across all browsers?

also is there a mod to change the | - to something nicer? (arrows or a nice gif)


Not sure if these are easy things to do, but don't mind hacking some code!
