Define pages editor won't update pages

Hi there,

I am trying to update one of my defined pages using the define pages editor. Even though it's updated in the editor when I save it, the changes aren't reflected on the page in the store. Is there a template cache somewhere that needs to be flushed? Thanks for your help

You probably need to change the permissions temporarily to 777 on both the directory and the files. then change it back to 644 when finished.

I'm having the same problem, tried messing with my permissions but it doesn't work. It doesn't make sense to me, because the files are changing somewhere in order for the admin to recognize the changes.... they changes are just not being relayed onto the live website.

Could it be I somehow did not set up About_us mod correctly for each of the pages I made? Because default pages created by Zen-Cart seem to be updating.

I think in the future Zen-Cart really needs to make inserting a new page much, much easier. Like Wordpress easy. I guess I'll go and recheck everything and see if I'm missing any vital files and check back here. If you have to have all of these different pages, there should be a tool in the admin to generate them all for you.

Do you have your custom template folder in place in includes/languages/english/html_includes, with copies of the define_***filename***.php files in it that you plan to customize?

Is it the About Us page only that you're having problems with?

Actually, I have a few custom pages set up as follows:

about
about the artist
faq
links

Everything except about the artist works as it should, so I definitely don't think there's a problem with permissions. I checked to make sure I have all of the files needed to make it work, and I do. Maybe there is some kind of defect in my files for the artist page...maybe I should try creating it again?

OK! I found the problem. Thanks for hearing me out people. I guess in a way it helped me think through the problem. I'm documenting this for the good of public knowledge.

I began by double checking all of the artist files I had created, and in /includes/modules/artist/header_php.php I discovered a piece of code I neglected to change.

Of course, this code could be anywhere throughout your pages, so if you're having a problem with the About_us mod, just go through it all from the start. You should have a list in the readme file, but I'm copying it over here just in case!

     /includes/languages/english/extra_definitions/MYTEMPLATE/about_us.php
     /includes/languages/english/html_includes/define_about_us.php  (this adds the page to the drop down box in Define Pages Editor)

Go to Configuration > Define Page Status, make sure you have set it so that the text can be displayed.
