Default Multiple Images for One Listing Questions

Hi....new Zen Cart user here...must say it is beyond what I thought it COULD possibly be. = )

Only limitation I've run into is using multiple photos.

I see that it is possible, I've not yet succeded in getting this feature to work.

I have a few quick questions. Will the product listing display additional photos? Or, is it just the larger photos that will show extras? (And if this IS the case, how does the user select the additional photos)?

I basically only need to add the photos to the listing, with the option to click for larger on all.

I''ve uploaded the photos to cart/images....

    named them:
    image.bmp

    and:
    image_01.bmp

Selected that file/sub-dir w/the drop down menu in Zen Cart...

But the addtnl images STILL don't display (when browsing the site as a guest), after updating the changes, of course. I have the Product type set to allow multipe photos.

Please, any help would be much appreciated....this is holding me up...

    Otherwise it's 100% A OK...........so far........

    Under the admin panel:

Catalog --> Product Types --> Product - General (if that's what you're using) --> click the Edit Layout button.

Make sure the Show Product Additional Images is on.

Thanks for the fast reply. + )

I did, in fact, have ALL of the product types set to "1" for
    Show Product Additional Images....

((I can't seem to find where the product type is set for each product, but as all are set to ON for that parameter, I guess it doesn't matter. BTW, where DO I set the product type for each item???))

    So....I'm still stuck........

    What else could it be???

    Thanks,
    Donn

When you create your product, you set its product type by choosing the product type from the pulldown menu next to the "New Product" button.

OK...I missed that! The pulldown was hiding,,,,,

I had the items Im testing all set to the default prodyct type (general) and the general product type has the parameter for multi photos set to ON.

    SO....what else could it be?????

(BTW, once I create a new item, how can I check which product type it is? Where is this info displayed?? And, of course,,,,,,,Can it later be changed?)

    Thanks,
    Donn

Any other ideas as to what could be keeping the additional photos from displaying??

I've read as much as I could find, and apparently, having photos with the same base name, along with ANYTHING appended (_01, _02, _FF) will be shown, as long as they are in the same dir as the photo 'owned' by the item. (OR....do ALL additional photo ned to be in /IMAGE/ and not /IMAGE/SUBDIR/>>>

There MUST be something else going on here....

Default MED and LRG files & additional photo locations/paths

OK...I understand that ZC will generate lower res images for the thumbnail and product listing....but ideally, in terms of optimizing processing, I know they should be uploaded already sized to the /lrg and /med subdirs.

    So....

If I want to keep my photos in seperate sub-dirs, under image
e.g. (/image/forks/, /image/knives/) to keep everything organized, I just specify the path to the photo, select, and then the photos are set.

    OK

Is ZenCart going to search for additional photos in the image/forks, sub-dir where I initially uploaded the image file to ZenCart, and I later FTPed the other additional photos?

Or will ZC look in the /image/ dir ONLY??

AND....as far as looking for 'Med" and "LRG" photos...

If I make sub-dirs in each of the MED and LRG sub-dirs, can ZC be directed toa sub-dir? Or must all the LRG and MED files be in the LRG and MED root dir??

I also read that only ONE MED file is allowed. But isn't the MEd file the file displayed on the item description??

If so, are the additional photos just small thumbnails at the bottom of the description HTML, which can be clicked for larger popups, or are they the same size as the description photo...

(Hopefully soon Ill see for myself.,..!!!!!!!!!!)

    OK.........I found the problem....

I was using a subdir called

    /IMAGE/PROD1/

and the additional photos were in THAT folder.

So...I copied all the additional images to /image/ and now it works 100%.

So, no sub-dirs, with regard to image, LRG and MED. Answers my toher post as well.

    ONE QUESTIONS:

The additional photos display as small thumbs thna can be clicked to enlarge.

I downloaded and installed Image Manager (I was toldit was the older version).
    It doesn't work....but...anyway...

Can this module (or IM 2.0) add photos at resolution specified by the admin?

In other words, can I choose to have the MED photo at the top, and additional 'med'-sized photos at the bottom of the HTML text?
