    Default Tools Required for Development??

    I am new to ZenCart.

We are trying to move our site from what began as cold fusion and ended up as "ASP.Net". It is fairly extensive, but very hard to deal with... Also, an individual who helped us with development is now busy with other projects.

What tools do you use to work with your ZenCart sites?

Do you use an IDE for development? If so, which one? Open source?

What do you use to remotely manage your MySQL?? How does it connect to your hosting site?

    Thanks
    Rob

I think step 3 or 4 tells you what to use.
I used Dreamweaver or sometimes cPanel which is NOT recommended.
Using Dreamweaver you can do a save then trasfer the file over if something is wrong and you want to back step to the org you simple undo your work, that is if you did not close the file. Then download the file again.

Best think I can tell you is to back up all your work and the db before you start any updating. Once on-line backup everyday. if you can do a cold backup or a hot one.

I use a free software called PHP Editor. And Notepad. I used to use Dreamweaver, but don't use it anymore. This is a lot simpler for me.

I use PHP MyAdmin for my MySQL db, which comes as part of my host's cPanel set-up for my account.

I do my personal sites with a "live sandbox" on my server account -- basically a "deep" folder that's live. I can make my changes in real-time, and then when it's ready for prime-time (so to speak) just move it to where it's supposed to be.
