Default Now you see it now you dont. (TAX)

Here's the website... www dot mahya dot com *(LIVE STORE!!!)

Something weird is going on here...

I have set the taxes up correctly according to the tax tutorial here on the site. I go to make a purchase and "I" see the tax before checkout. *(and it's absolutely correct).

But my buddy across town don't see it on his computer when he's on the site. But not only on his computer, but the one at his office, and his friend in Austin don't see the tax either.

Why can "I" see it, and "they" cant?

    They think I'm nuts. lol

    Help!

    Respectfully,
    LMW1

    Taxes are based on addresses.
What shipping AND billing addresses do you have set in your account?
If your friend logs into YOUR account from HIS computer (ie: with your email and password), does he now see the taxes?
If he uses the same addresses in his account as you've used in yours, does he now see the taxes?
If you log in to your computer with his username and password, do you see taxes?

What do you have configured in Admin->Config->My Store for "Basis of product tax" and "basis of shipping tax" ?

Shipping and billing address are the same.

When my friend logs into my account, PRESTO!!!! He now sees the tax *(.82cents on a $9.95 purchase - Texas 8.25%).

When I log into the store with his info, I don't see the tax.

Basis of Product Tax and Shipping Tax are BOTH configured to "Shipping".

Why can I see the tax and he (and our friend in Austin) cant see the tax?

    I'm stumped.

    What version of Zen Cart?
    What addons/contributions are installed?
In what ways have you customized your site?
If he alters his address to use *your* address, what happens?
And then what happens if he changes it back again? or deletes his current address after adding a new one?

    Version 1.37.1

Add ons: Dual pricing module, Grid View module.

All that I have customized are the template images.

He tried putting in my address, and still couldn't see the tax for the product.

Still no tax on his end. *(or our friend in Austin).

In "MY STORE" configurations I have the following settings...

    Tax Decimal Places: 0
    Display Prices with Tax: False
Display Prices with Tax (admin): True
    Basis of Product Tax: Shipping
    Basis of Shipping Tax: Shipping
    Sales Tax Display Status: 1

    We're still stumped...

We greatly appreciate your kindness in attempting to help us!

I know we can figure this thing out somehow.

    Respectfully,
    Len

If you create a new account using his shipping address, does the same problem continue?

If taxes aren't being applied, then the customer's address record is not properly tied to a valid zone. It could be that something has corrupted his address-book records, and unless you delete those (after creating new ones), or delete his account altogether and recreate it, those zone details will not link up correctly.

Also, I'm not sure why you would have things set to NOT display tax-in pricing in the storefront, but DO show tax-in pricing in the admin ... seems inconsistent to me.

I could be wrong, but seem to recall some problems with the dual-pricing module. Is your friend's account configured for the same pricing permissions as yours is?
