Default help, please: I need box for attribute images

I am super new to this.

I need to find a way to post images for the customer to select from. Rather than just colors, I have thumbnails I need for them to view before selecting, as an attribute, which I think I know how to add to the site. I do want to assign specific thumbnails to each product, so I can't have just a page for them to go to and select from; it needs to be product specific. I don't care if it is a scroll box or a shadow box (the latter I have on the site, and it is really nice, so that is preferred, but I just need to get something on there, since each product is made to order, and I can't really make one of each option/fabric.

If anyone is interested in helping me (please?) you can see what I am talking about here:

I have the product listed in one fabric, but want to offer several fabrics (per item) to choose from.

    Thanks in advance. :)

If I'm understanding what you want -- you can assign specific thumbnails using attributes on a product-by-product basis. You don't have to use all of the option values you create on every product.

Create an option name of "Fabric" (or color or whatever) and assign to it the different option values for each type of fabric.

Then, in attributes, set up the match of the option name to the option values applicable to that product.

    Hope that made sense.

You can use the admin panel Configuration --> Attribute Settings to enable attribute images. (If you don't, they won't show no matter what.)

Under Catalog --> Option Name Manager you can edit how the thumbnails display and in how many columns, a row, etc.

OK - I enabled attribute settings - actually it was already checked - but I am still not sure how to make the options viewable. Will they show up in a scroll? Do I need to create a single scrollable image and upload it into my FTP?
