Hi all, I have finally decided to give ZenCart a go after deciding to take the plunge and set up an ecommerce site. I have been playing with Zencart for the last 3 days on my local server and have now set up a working store with my own design (using other templates to show me the way) and trying to do as much custom work just using the CSS sheets to allow easy future upgrades.

I do not have any questions at this point BUT would like some pointers on what else I should be looking to get to grips with while I am building and testing locally.

For example I am stilll a little unsure on what are the best payment options to install and if I will need to apply to any 3rd partys for card authorisation (yes UK)?

One thing I have not really looking into yet is providing feeds for shopping sites, is this something you can do with Zencart?

Anyway that is my first post so please be gentle...

welcome to one of worlds most powerfull ecommerce system. whatever your type of store is you can do with zen-cart and if got stuck visit this forum and you will find help.

Since you are testing locally so take into consideration security including your site as well as customer.

about payment will depend that how you you want to accept payment from customers paypal (in built), google checkout or third part gateway like worldpay( can be downloaded from section) for this the somebody from UK will be able to guide you more.

As per feed for shopping sites, following feeds are available:
1. Google froogle ( can be used for almost all shopping sites)
2. Live (for msn products)
3. yahoo feed
4. shopmania.com (available in download section)
if you know little php froogle file can be modified for any shopping site.


in short what ever your can imagine to make your store look like or popular or powerfull you can do with zen-cart say thanks to developers

Thanks for the reply, I will definately leave a donation for the developers as I was going to spend money on CRELoaded until I discovered Zen Cart :)

Its good to know I will be able to add a feed a later date.

This forum and things I have read have given me a good confidence in moving forward.

Is there any other sites worth looking at for more tips and tricks.
