help question SSL Directory has different root location

http://www.mywebsite.com and https://www.mywebsite.com go to two different directorys off the root.

    http://www.mywebsite.com/shop leads to /public/shop
    and
    https://www.mywebsite.com/shop leads to /secure/shop

Is there a list showing which directories can stay in the public area and which to move to the secure area. Would this even work.

Another idea I've had may be to install fully to both directories but use the same database for both installations.

Is there a configuration allowing for a server configuration like this?

Still one of the best looking products I seen for a cart and I've been reviewing a lot of them. I really want to try to get this working on this server.

Thanks for any help or ideas.

    i also have a problem...

    my host is www.essentialrain.co.uk

    and my SSL is https://vault2.secured-url.com/essentialrain

ive copied my files over to the SSL host also, but when anything links to my SSL host i get errors saying Invalid Directory. (Can be seen by accessing the top url and clicking log in).

You say that your "host" is essentialrain.co.uk, but I think you mean that this is your web address.

The bad news is that you are hosted with Fasthosts, and you are never going to get their shared ssl to work with a dynamic php based shopping cart - not just Zen Cart but all php shopping carts.

If you are within their money-back period then get back the money you spent on buying their shared ssl before it's too late.

If i hosted the SSL with another provider would it then work ?

I just dont want to go through the trauma of changing domains to a new provider etc.

Thanks for your response, i had a feeling this was the case.
