Set flat rates based on UPS shipping method?

Hi,

I've looked through all the threads to see if I could find something to answer this question, but please forgive me if this has been posted before:

I need to set flat rates based on the UPS shipping method that the customer chooses. For example:

UPS Ground (No HI, AK) $8.00
3-Day Select (No HI, AK) $13.00
2-Day Air (US Only) $16.00
Next Day Air Saver (US Only) $30.00

I have the UPS module installed and I have the options for shipping as UPS Ground, 3-Day Select, 2-Day Air and Next Day Air Saver, but it estimates the total for me, I have no option to fix the rate. Does this make sense? I would really appreciate any assistance you could provide me. I have a picky client and need to be able to set these parameters.

If you want to set multiple FLAT rates for example, using UPS, then you do NOT want to use the actual UPS module. That will give you real time rates.

What you want to do is CLONE the "flat rate" shipping module for each flat rate method you need. Then, install those and activate them from within the admin.

I've done this before with several sites. It takes coding, but it can be done.

I am familiar with coding php and can probably manage this. When you say cloning, you mean to copy the php file and activate it from the shipping module, however where would I provide information for what shipping method it is? Do I need to call each php file something specific or can i title them upsground.php, 3dayselect.php, etc.?

yuo could also use the MZMT module,
dosnt require any cloning,

Also, curious as to how you came up with a flat total (is it just ball parked? or from experience? and is it easy to adjust if fuel sur-charges go up?).

i found this mod for UPS:

it has a real time xml parser... which i guess is a whole different animal.
