Open Admin> Catalog> Categories/Products >
If you haven't created a category for your product, then click on New Category and fill in the info for the category and click SAVE. Then create your product as described below.
If you already have the category set up, click on the yellow folder icon next to the category name (from admin> Catalog> Categories/Products >)
Next, click the the edit product button (green circle with E inside) for the appropriate product, or if creating product description for first time, then click on the New Product button.
To describe your product using HTML scroll down to the Product Description box. By default you will be in a WYSIWYG mode. To change to text mode where you can enter raw html code simply toggle the <> button at the top of the product description editing box. You can also enlarge this editing box into a separate and larger window by clicking on the icon just to the right of the <> icon (it looks like two overlapping windows with an arrow pointing at 45 degrees or the NNE position.)
Save your work by clicking the Preview button and then on the next screen click the Update button.
For future reference you find most of the basic setup information for ZenCart here https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php and in the documentation files that came with your ZenCart download.

thanks for quick reply.
i dont have the <> toggle anywher eon the product description page. im i using an od version maybe? i installed it via crystaltech.com/ctzencart.aspx
which is my hosting company.
werid?
I have no experience with CrystalTech product. You might need to ask them how to edit in raw html mode. In ZenCart 1.3.7. the toggle button is in the second line of the toolbar and fourth icon from the right.
However, you might try to create your page in another html editor, display your finished work if that editor has that feature, or simply load it into a browser, then cut and paste the result back into the wysiwyg mode of the ZenCart/CrystalTech editor and save as described. It's not a very elegant way to go, but should get the job done. Just watch out for any misalignments that might occur in the layout and test any links you may have put there.

This is almost like a duplicate post, and I apologize, but I did not find this one until I posted my first one.
I have:
Zen Cart 1.3.8a
Database Patch Level: 1.3.8

I cannot find the wsywig or raw html functions you refer to. Am I crazy (probably so).
Thanks!!

Can you get to the product creation/editing page?
If so,the biggest box in that page is for entering the descrpition. If you don't have HTMLArea set to default in Configuration > ?My Store?, you will be entering raw text. Any HTML tags you add to this will be used.
Can you describe what you are seeing in the edit page and in your store listing & info pages?
"Can you get to the product creation/editing page?"
Yes, I have set several products, and am using the text area.
But, I did miss the HTML setting. Reset it to HTML editor, still don't get the HTML edit area in products.
Strange... Let's drop this one for now, I have so many other things to get the site running right now, I don't want to bother you guys with a little nagging problem like this.
Thank any way, I will re-post later if that's alright.

If you know how to use HTML tags, you can enter them without an HTML editor (and get cleaner code to boot:).
Have you considered using something like FCK Editor. Might be easier
