Yes, I have set several products, and am using the text area.

But, I did miss the HTML setting. Reset it to HTML editor, still don't get the HTML edit area in products.

Strange... Let's drop this one for now, I have so many other things to get the site running right now, I don't want to bother you guys with a little nagging problem like this.

If you know how to use HTML tags, you can enter them without an HTML editor (and get cleaner code to boot:).

Have you considered using something like FCK Editor. Might be easier

Have you selected the HTMLarea dropdown option on the categories and products admin pages? --- the pages you get to when you do catalog -> categories/products, and then from there when you click on a product category (or product) or use the green edit icon?

Fixed it for me, as well as setting the configuration -> layout option...

For those who are reading this thread and wondering where the follow up is. I got it. I had the same problem understanding it...

If you go to Configuration -> My Store, and change the HTML Editor to HTMLAREA, it will allow you to use HTML in your product descriptions.

There were no <> or anything different on the actual product edit pages, it just allowed me to write in HTML and have it understood.

Hope this helps other people. It helped me.

Note: You don't need to have HTMLArea or any other editor running to enter HTML in the description. You can enter the HTML tags around your text and they will work perfectly in the store view. They will just look like text tags (no special appearance) in the description edit window.

Hi. I have just spent 3 months implementing a zen cart shop which I had thought would only take arounbd 10 days. Every single step of the way has been counter-intuitive, problematic and awkward. Now, with the end in sight, I've just got off the phone from the client who told me that when he puts info into the 'product description' area it ends up unformatted. So, for example, when he puts a sentence in then hits enter twice to go down 2 lines and make another sentence and then hits enter twice agin to go down another 2 lines and put another sentence in, on the shop proper this formatting does not appear and every line runs into the other. I've just tried to change this using the HTMLarea/plain text drop down menus on each category page and it makes no difference.

Does anyone have any idea what the problem is here and how it can be fixed? The explanations given so far on this thread don't help.

What is it about zen cart that every single thing must be fraught with difficulty and must defy common sense?
