Adding image to e-mail footer

Hello,

I changed the e-mail header image--that was easy. But can't figure out the
best place to add an image in the footer. Specifically, this needs to appear
after the closing of the welcome e-mail, which has been defined as
EMAIL_GV_CLOSURE in the file create_account.php. So do I just add the
image there?

Also, is there any way around the problem of having a broken image symbol appear in text-only e-mail (for those who select text-only as their e-mail
preference)?

The footer image is different from the one in the header so was wondering if I should put a copy of it in the email dir or just leave it where it is in the main images directory and link to it from there using an absolute URL?
