1st discount coupon automatic generation ?

Hello,

Linda says in a old thread that

You create the coupon once (from within the Coupon Admin). After selecting it in "GV Coupons" as the "new signup" code, it is automatically generated for each new customer.

I tried to make a new coupon, letting ZC generate the coupon code, then I choose this coupon in Configuration->GVCoupons as the first discount coupon.

The problem is that the coupon code is the same for every new customer.

In Configuration-> Customer details, I tried both referral systems 1 and 2 (1= 1st Discount Coupon Code used
2= Customer can add during create account or edit if blank)

but that makes no difference.

I would like that each time a new customer registers he gets a personnal coupon code so that I can tell him to send it to friends, and then I would be able to track who recommended who.


Did I misunderstood what Linda was saying or is there a way to generate personnal coupon codes for each new customer ?

The GV or Gift Certificate will automatically generate a unique Gift Certificate code on the Welcome Email ...

Discount Coupon uses an existing Discount Coupon code that is sent out to all new accounts ...

While it can be written to do otherwise, you would need to customize the code to create a unique Discount Coupon per customer with each new account ...

Why not just make a Discount Coupon with a code such as Welcome and set it to Unimited uses and 1 use per customer?

I cannot make a unique coupon cause I would like to say to each new customer

"Here is you personnal coupon code, you can use it once, but if you give it to 2 new customers and we see that they come to the site, you'll get another discount"

I know this is a kind a affiliate or referral (I don't reallyy understand the difference).

So ok, the GV allows me to generate a new GV code for each customer, but can I tell the customer tat this code can be used more than once, as it can be with coupons ?

To simply avoid frauds. Lets say that one customer creates account and has his first shipment free. Then he creates another account with different e-mail and gets another free shipment...
That's why we need some additional protection....

What do you consider "fraud protection"?

I have 50 domains, and unlimited emails ... my friend has gmail, yahoo and hotmail accounts ...

What would you do to "test" for fraud on all of the accounts that are created and the use of coupons?

I could write a test for address, and then fool the test with:
123 Somewhere Road
123 Somewhere RD
123 Somewhere

How would you "test" for fraud on this one?
