help question Coupon Email screen takes forever to load

When I want to email a coupon to a specific customer, it takes forever to load the email screen where I select to whom the coupon is to be emailed to. I do have a large customer base, but it doesn't take this long to open any of the other customer screens.

What would cause this? I literally open the coupon admin, click the email button and go do something else while waiting for the screen to load. At first I thought it was broken.

Version - 1.3.8a and PHP5/MySql5 server running Apache - This is a stand alone server with only this site loaded on the server, so its not a server busy issue. All resources available to this site.

    Thanks in advance.

The delay is a result of it calculating the number of recipients for the customer-groups available in the pulldown menu. You can turn off the Audience count-calculation in Admin->Configuration->Email options

I made the change in the config area, and then switched back to the coupon screen and still takes forever. I guess I'm stuck with it. LOL - It gives me time to go grab a glass of tea while I wait.....but others must have to deal with this with large customer bases - Like I said, no problem on loading any other customer screens.

Did you see my additional question re: how to turn on tracking of Coupon emails "sent". I can't find where to turn that on.

    Thanks for your kind attention.

I've moved it to its own separate discussion, since it's a different issue.

The audience count calculation is set to false, but the coupon email screen takes very very long to load. The same issue is in the customers email screen (admin/mail.php?origin=customers.php). This happens in a 1.3.8 installation (MySQL 5.0.45 and PHP 5.1.6). This shop has about 4400 customers in its database.
In other 1.3.8 installations where there are only some hundreds customers I never had these issues. Any idea where to look at to fix this?

Thank you so much. I have been struggling with this issue for awhile. We too have a very large customer base, approximately 7,000 - and this was killing us. We are on a stand alone server for this site, but I have several others on my shared server (so resources have to be very closely monitored), all of which I've updated to 1.3.8a - I'm immediately going to implement that little sql call to all as it worked perfectly. Now the customer list loads in about five seconds and the server is no longer brought to its knees!!!

    Thanks a bunch!!
