Default Setting up my Zencart site on own PC

Firstly, MASSIVE apologies for being a complete noob. Be prepared for some very basic questions here with no doubt the wrong jargon employed

Basically I brought a zencart site from "Rentacart" and after figuring I was well out of my depth I paid somebody a small fee to set it up.

I've been reading a lot of this forum and the zen cart tutorials and I realised there was a way to set up zencart on my local host so I could make changes to it without completely killing the live version.

So, I followed a PDF tutorial and installed both WAMP and Zen Cart onto my c drive pretty successfully. What I can't figure out is how to export my "Live" site onto my PC so I can play around with it.

I followed another tutorial and have exported the root file of the Live site into a SQL file and onto my local hosts database. (In that I can see it in the drop down menu).

Can anybody advise me of how to proceed from here?

    Thanks in advance.

    Simon.

On your live site you have an /includes/configure.php file. In there is a DB_PREFIX setting. Find out what it is.
Then change the /includes/configure.php file on your local PC to use the same DB_PREFIX setting.
Do the same for your /admin/includes/configure.php file.

Cheers Doc. I did that (and consulted my zencart ebook) but I'm still stuck.

The zencart example page has now gone and I've got an error message saying:

1146 Table Zencart configuration doesn't exist

(Select configuration_keys as cfgkey, configuration_value as cfgvalue from configuration)

    Any help would be appreciated

    Thanks again.

The fix-cache utility sounds like it might be of help but I'm having problems with the directions. Namely:

    * 2. Copy this file to the folder where "index.php" exists for your Zen Cart site
    * 3. Run it

I was able to find the index.php file. How do you "Run it" ???

Thanks very much for all your help!

I managed to sort it out now. One of the Database lines wasn't right in the configure files.

If I may ask one last question is there an easy way to transfer over the same template?

    Thanks again,

    Simon.
