how to get invoice to show an item was sold on sale

I've been looking for this for a long time and haven't found a resolution anywhere. i want the invoice to show an item was sold at an ON SALE price. how would i set that up?

Also, I want to take the inc. exc. off of the invoice. Thanks to anyone who can help me!

When products are on sale or special, the prices are discounted "in the cart" so no record is kept of the reduction. You'd have to write extra code to do this. Alternately, if you use an order total module like Group Discounts or Better Together, the discount is shown on the invoice, but not in the cart until checkout time.

that's my problem. i think the only temporary fix is to rename all sale items to name-ON SALE.

that way when customers look at old invoices they will remember they got a deal on a specific item at that specific time... and not that we've raised our regular price on it.

but what about taking the inc. and enc. off of the invoice? do i just comment out that part of the code?
