Do I need to use tables for desired effect with background image?

The site is supposed to have a background image that will blend in with the cart to make the whole thing look less.... like a template I guess...

similar to how this site looks like one big picture...

I don't think making one huge background image at 1280x1024 would be too good of an idea, and I really only need images on the left and right side of the actual shopping cart...

I've never used tables before, so I wouldn't know what file to edit or how exactly to accomplish this.

No tables. You should be able to do it with the stylesheet if you want the background for the sideboxes only. Take a look at the Fan Odyssey site in my sig. The star field background is a tiled image.

Actually the images need to be on either side of the actual zencart, not sideboxes or the main wrapper, but outside of the whole thing. So instead of the main background image now, which is repeated down, i need two images, one on the left, one on the right. I just think making a 1280x1024 image will be too much to load.

Ah, I got it, but I'm not sure how to achieve that effect. The good news is that someone else on the forum probably does.

You might want to consider taking a peek at http://(sorry, site offline)/ and see if any of the free templates create that effect. You could always copy it from that template.
