    Default Two different shipping rates...

    Hi all,

I've been searching the forum and I'm stumped at the best way to do this. I'm selling pet care products as a drop shipper and these are my shipping rates:

Our Shipping Rates are based on price as follows:

Orders up to $25.00…………..…. Add $5.00
    $26.00 to $75.00…...…….......…. Add $6.50
    $76.00 to $125.00……………..…. Add $7.50
    $126.00 to $175.00…...……....…. Add $8.50
    $176.00 to $225.00…………...…. Add $10.00
    Orders over $226.00…………...... Free Shipping

The exception is our food products. They have a flat rate shipping per product and are not subject to the above rates.

Any 2 kg Bag of Food................. Add $6.50
Any 8 kg Bag of Food................... Add $9.50
    Any 16 kg Bag of Food...................Add $12.00
Any 6 oz Case of Food.................. Add $8.00
Any 13 oz Case of Food............... Add $9.50

    ****

The table rate per price I have figured out... What I was thinking I could do was use the "free shipping" option for the food and add an attribute for shipping ... but I"m getting all kinds of errors when I try to implement the free shipper option...

Does someone have a suggestion on the best way to do this? I'm an osCommerce Convert and I was hoping that Zen would have an easy way to handle this...

    I'd appreciate any help.

    Jen

All of your products, except the kibbles ... er ... food ... is sent based on price to compute the shipping ...

The kibbles are done by weight ...

Your Table Rate table Shipping Module is setup to set the shipping by price ...

What you need is a handy dandy little customization to utilize the weight and the price so that the price uses one set of computation and weight uses another ...

This combination of pricing by price and weight at the same time is not built into any of the shipping modules ...

However, this could be customized to work for you but it would take some time to work out the code ... but, once written it would be manageable in a useful sort of way to handle this mixed shipping method ...

Hrrmmm... well, that is more work that I'm willing to do... I wonder if I should just make the food free shipping and add the shipping into the price... would either of the free shipping mods do that? I tried to implement that option and it gave me a bunch of "cannot send header" errors so I'm guessing I didn't have something configured correctly

Sounds like you have space(s) or blank line(s) after the final php closing tag ?> in one of your files ...

Adding shipping cost to the price then mark as Always Free Shipping will work if you install the Free Shipping freeshipper Shipping module ...

yeah, that was exactly the problem (that's what I get for not downloading the php file and uploading revisions.. oh no, it was just a quick fix so I changed it directly on the server... doh!)

    Thanks for the help!
