    thanks but unfortunately that doesn't help me at all. to begin with the actual link (directory) info i typed in during install isn't there so me entering the link in the config doesn’t replace the messed up entry.

    as a second and unrelated issue - though this will come up next - my phpbb is on the different server under a different url

    so now what? i've been searching for a long time and i haven't seen a single thing about using a different URL for the forum link or where the actual code is stored so i can replace it. the config does not have it

    i appreciate the effort though, thanks,

    steven

    Hi mate

    I don't know if this will work but have you tried adding or changing this in your /includes/configure.php

    define('DIR_WS_PHPBB', 'http://www.websitename.com/forumdirectory/');
