Paypal not working!!! lost first sale :(

I just lost my first sale on my site because of an error with Paypal (I'm not saying that it's not pilot error). Here is the error:

10002 Security error - Security header is not valid

I went into the API information for our paypal account and verified that I have the right info in the name, password, and signature fields.

I know that this has probably been discussed over and over but because I need my site to be able to process orders I am putting in the question first then I will go searching

Looks like the error msg. is from the PayPal side. Have you contacted them?

Also, would it not make sense that after installing any new Module or Plug-in, verification is done to make sure all works as it should?

Hi... and yes "shame on me" for not trying a PayPal sale myself. I know that I should have done that. I will see if I can find a contact number for Paypal and try to ask them what is going on.

Yes, that's the number I just called. The people who deal with my type of problem have gone for the day but a nice lady setup a trouble ticket and they will get back with me in the morning.

crabdance, so what's the story? In the thread Kim referenced you gave the impression you had solved this problem. Or, was it that with no follow-thru on the Validation, you weren't aware the problem was not actually fixed?

Yea, I thought it was funny too ... In the other thread, I was trying to find out what my API username, password, and sig. was. I found that and was able to verify my credentials.

Now that someone tried to use the site for real, I found out that it doesn't work. Not sure what to do from here... should I try testing in the sandbox? I am POSITIVE that I have all the right information in the API settings. What else could be causing this? Should I try to reset my API information?

Testing is always good for all kinds of reasons; fixing problems, learning, etc.

Don't beat yourself up over it though as you do have a Ticket open with PayPal. If you pick their brains a bit when you talk them, you can find out a lot, real quick.
