Default Moving to New Server Query

    Hi!

I am reinstalling a clean version of ZC, however I wish to transfer the products over to the new install - so I don't have to reenter them all again.

It's never been live so no customer records etc to worry about but is there an easy way to transfer the product details etc across - I'm guess by transferring SQL tables but I'm unsure which ones and if I can transfer just the product related ones!

    Thanks
    Ernie

Have you had a look at Easy Populate? It's in the downloads area. I've used it for a variety of tasks and it seems to work pretty well.

    I would try the following:

    1. Backup your new carts database.

    2. Export all your zen_product_... tables from your old cart.

    3. Import them into your new cart.

Have a play around and make sure everything is working okay- Worse case scenario is that it does not work and you have to revert to your backup.

Actually, you can export your database (do yourself a favor and just do the entire thing) and then import it to the database on the new server using your webmaster panel (usually CPanel). It's a pretty simple funtion in phpMyAdmin. There are also directions in the tutorial/FAQ section of this site.

Remember, if you want the images, you have to copy your image folder from the old server. You're best off FTPing the entire site to your hard drive and then FTPing it up to the new server... or at least FTPing the parts you customized. A fresh ZC install will take care of the rest.

I did it a couple of months ago for both sites in my sig, so I know this all works.
