Default Need help on shipping - Are the Any LTL modules

    Hello,

I cannot find a satisfactory shipping solution with the default shipping modules. I will be selling Mopeds and these can only be delivered by an LTL Freight company. The Mopeds come in a crate the is 7' x 3' x4' and weigh 400 pounds.

I would like to set my site up for the following shipping choices:

    Business or Terminal Address: $0.00
    Residential Address: $50.00
Residential Address with a Lift Gate: $75.00

I tried putting these as a product attributes and that works until checkout. At checkout I have to select a shipping choice and non of the shipping choice are priced right. I tried disabling all of the shipping modules but then I couldn't check out. I next tried the Free Shipping option to bypass the shipping screen but then the customer sees free shipping on the invoice when it is not free shipping. I don't want a customer to say that I charged them for shipping when the invoice states Free Shipping Method

Does anyone have a shipping module that would do this?

Is there A way I could change the display name for Free Shipping to Read LTL
    Freight Service

If I could do that, then the customer would never see the shipping screen and the invoice would reflect truthfully that the item is shipping by LTL Freight.
This would also allow me to normal shipping set-up for smaller items.

    Your help is greatly appreciated

I think I have found a temporary work around!

Ok, I've changed the title for Free Shipping in the includes/languages/english/freeshipper.php. I then set my product to free shipping. Now when I did a test checkout I the other shipping choice did not show and the screen read:

    Your Total
    Sub-Total :$904.00

LTL Freight Shipping! (Shipping Cost Included in Product Price):$0.00

    Total: $904.00

The order when through and the customer emailed showed the right price and attribute selections:

    1 x MPS 50cc Moped (MPS 50) = $904.00
    First Color Choice Green
    Second Color Choice Green
Delivery Options Residential with Lift Gate
    Insurance Insurance
    ------------------------------------------------------
    Sub-Total: $904.00
LTL Freight Shipping! (Shipping Cost Included in Product Price): $0.00
    Total: $904.00

Do you see any problems with setting it up this way, other than it limits my ability to use Free Shipping for other items.

This will at least work until I find a shipping module that will do LTL shipping triggered by weight. All my attributes stay in place and it will add the proper shipping cost should someone order two mopeds.

    Thanks for any input,

There's some links to articles on cloning a shipping module here:

Free Shipping freeshipper is a special Shipping Module designed for when the whole Order is Free Shipping and it is the only available Shipping Method that will display on orders that have Free Shipping ...

    This is mainly designed for:
    Always Free Shipping
0 weight orders where 0 weight means Free Shipping

If you want to offer Free Shipping in addition to other Shipping Methods you will want to use something like Flat Rate flat or Free Shipping Options freeoptions and change the text in the language file using your templates and overrides for this ...

I think the way I set it up using the Free Shipper will work for now. I activated the perweightunit module and then added a second scooter into the store set for normal shipping rules. Both scooters are listed with a weight of 300 pounds. I then added both scooters into my cart and checked out. The cart showed a shipping charge based on the shipping weight of 300 pounds instead of 600. For a test I added in two of the units with a normal shipping rule and the weight went to 600 lbs. I think this will get me going for know.

My skills are limited when it comes to coding, so I will leave it this way for a while. Someday I will change it when I can either learn enough to clone a shipping module and change it the way I need it myself or can afford to pay a coder.

    Thanks
