How to display NAME instead of EMAIL ADDRESS in email sent from?

Hi all,
i am new to zen cart.

This is my problem:

The transport method is sendmail, i setup the Email Address (sent FROM) to [email protected], it works ok. (and it shows the sender is [email protected])

Now i would like to display the name(John Doe) instead of the email address([email protected]). i tried John Doe<[email protected]>, but it not work.

Zen Cart typically uses the Store Name (Admin->Configuration->My Store->Store Name) as the name of the sender, combined with the "Email FROM" email address when sending emails.

but actually, on my zen cart 1.3.7.1, the sender just shows the email address, no store name at all.

Which kinds of email messages are you referring to? What part of the store is sending these emails to the customer?
What is your Store Name set to?
What email client are you using to read the emails?
