site opens with blank page

My site http://www.jreducational.com/catalog opens with a blank page. It loads the index.html page which is blank. If I open the store through the admin panel it loads index.php and the newly installed site appears. How can I get the site to load the index.php page?

Also, since installing Zen Cart, the photos on the base site jreducational.com doesn't show graphics anymore, just text. Can anyone help?

You will need to study the paths you've used in your Zen Cart configuration files. Your Admin area does not show the same pages as your main Zen Cart area but would seem to be setup correctly; which is why pages are displaying.

As to problems with images in the other parts of your site, which does not seem to be connected to Zen Cart, you are using invalid code which needs to be corrected.

From what I am seeing, your site is not setup to recognise index.php as auto loading over index.html ...

Check with your hosting site and see what needs to be changed so that php runs before html ...

My hosting site (1and 1) says to rename the index.html to something else so the index.php page will load first. I am afraid that will screw up all the code in zen cart that looks for index.html. BTW 1 and 1 offers no support for zen cart.

The default settings within Zen Cart will always look for "index.php". Most Servers though, are setup to first look for "index.html" then "index.htm" then "index.php".

Your Hoster was correct and long as you do not have an "index.htm" page, your Zen Cart Index page should load just fine.
