    Default Pricing issue

    Hello!

I am working on a website that sells t-shirts with the customer's own logo/artwork/text. The price for each shirt depends on:

    • number of shirts ordered
    • number of print colours

    So, for instance:

    25 - 49 shirts in 1 print colour cost $15.00 per shirt
    25 - 49 shirts in 2 print colours cost $16.00 per shirt...

    50 - 99 shirts in 1 print colours costs...
And so on, up to 10000 shirts.

How do I set this up?

Also, when a customer uploads the image to be printed on the shirt, the image now ends up in the images folder of the website, is there any way for this image to be sent along with the order confirmation so that my client can just open the image in his email account instead of having to retrieve it from the images folder?

Thank you very much for your help!

    Johanna

Option A: Purchase a copy of ProductCart and tweak it to your needs. Then when you've got it working correctly, sell your mods to me and everyone else looking to do the same thing.

Option B: Wait and see how the new Multi Dimensional Quantities (or Pricing- whatever) module for Zen turns out. If it can handle attributes with quantity breaks, all of us t-shirt people are going to be taking a free ride to apparel e-commerce heaven.

    Thanks for your reply, 01011010.

If there is no way to do this with the existing Zen set up, then I suppose I will have to create an unelegant solution, i.e. a separate order page for each colour...?

I will definitely not forget the Zen Team's cup of coffee today if someone can give me a solution that is less messy.

    Thank you!

    Hi Johanna,

If your business is like most, there really is no easy solution... What I've seen most people do, with most carts, is have a series of dropdown fields and text for quantity entry.

    Example:

[color dropdown] . [size dropdown] . [quantity text]
[color dropdown] . [size dropdown] . [quantity text]
[color dropdown] . [size dropdown] . [quantity text]
[color dropdown] . [size dropdown] . [quantity text]
[color dropdown] . [size dropdown] . [quantity text]
[color dropdown] . [size dropdown] . [quantity text]

The quantities typed into the text fields then are summed up and placed in the usual Quantity box when either the box itself or the Add to Cart button is pressed. This works, but is a pretty sloppy way to go about things. Definitely better than nothing though.

What you and I want (and everyone else who has experience in this business) is a quantity matrix with individual prices per intersection. Nothing else can make things simple enough for your customers to use, or give you enough control over the pricing, availability and other attributes. With any luck it will be released soon, and won't have some major flaw that completely obliterates my hopes in their present heightened state.

If you need something now, well, good luck... I don't know of much you can do except wait, start shelling out some serious cash, or perhaps get really creative with your ordering process. Me? I'm waiting first; if things go south for MDQ, I'll contract someone to either fix what's wrong or make a second attempt altogether.

Let me know if you figure something out.
