Using Numeric Values And Dependant Attributes

Hi

I'm trying to set up a site that allows the customer to specify the diameter of rope from a drop down menu and length of rope using the text attribute. I have tried to implement the mod described at;

to use the text input in numeric form and then multiply it by the attribute price set by the diameter to give a price for a length of rope.

It seems the mod is from an earlier version. Has anyone used anything like this with version 1.3.7?

I have tried the exact same thing without any luck. I would really like to have this oppertunity.

I would like to choose prededefined widths from dropdown like 400cm and 500cm and then write the length as text. The price should then be width times the length times price pr. square meter.

I've got so far as accepting the text input as a number rather than the sum of the letters but I can't seem to get the inputted number to multiply with any of the other attributes successfully.

Reading through other posts it seems it would be a useful and popular feature but no one seems to have a solution. I'll keep playing!

I got to the same step. It just won't multiply.

I have looked for this feature for oscommerce as well without any luck yet.
I don't really understand why it hasn't been implemented. For me it dosn't seem so complicated but I'm just a new user so its easy for me to say :-).

I would even pay some money to make this work. Maybe if we go together we can pay enough to have someone make it for us.
