trouble with site optimization...

Hi everyone,

I went to the web optimize site and found that my site is spinning it's wheels looking for images that do not exist. Here is a partial display of the errors:

These images in fact do not exist but I don't know what part of the program is trying to load them so I don't have any idea of how to fix the issue. There are MANY images that try to load but are not there.

Can someone point me in a direction? I would appreciate any help.

could this be caused by filenames with spaces in them?

I have found out by testing that the culprit is my "what's new scrolling sidebox". When I stopped it from loading, I no longer got the "file not found" errors. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a tweak or should I just go back to the static "what's new sidebox"?

Also, my site loaded WAY faster

you may also want to twwak your marquee tag

make it lowercase, it is also throwing warning

Hi Merlin,

Thanks for taking a look at my files. I changed the "whats new" file I'm using so there should not be a problem with it anymore. When you have the time would you mind checking it again just so I know there are not any errors. I don't show any on my side but you never know.

I'm not real good with all of this and wondered if anyone might be able to point out my biggest bottleneck. Is it images? Just don't know. It loads fast on my pc but I'm running faster than 56k. The optimization web site shows it's taking too long for a 56k connection. Any ideas? I would appreciate any help in this matter.

Hi Kim!

Thank you for getting back to me so quick. Have a couple of questions about this. I'm using Image Handler and I just went back and made my main screen image size to be 150x80. Hope that helps some.

Are the images in my CSS taken into consideration? I'm guessing that they do. I'm using rollovers in my menus (don't know if that matters).

I'm pretty new at this, could you gently nudge me in the best direction for fixing this? (sorry for the dumb question).

k... I have got my image size down to 113474 from 140433 by just optimizing one image file. I'm going to try and adjust my home page banner as well now...

edit: just did my banner and now the image size in the web opt. is: 102028

Thanks for the info... it was another post you made where you said Speed = $$$ that made me want to optimize my site. I'm going to keep on working on it and will post how things are going when I get something done.

Does changing the compression rate in IH2 help the image sizes?
