Default general question about adding shopping features to a site

Hi. A friend has asked me to help them out with their site for a few quid.
They are looking to sell computer hardware only thats is not their primary goal.

I am going to sugguest the idea of rebuilding the site using zen cart.

however im not sure if this is the best soloution for them. How easy/difficult is it to add shopping cart features to an already existing site?

Can someone give me a small break down of what i would have to go through in order to do this?

    Thanks.

Zen Cart is not meant to be "parted-out" into an existing site. You can incorporate the look and information from the original site into Zen Cart.

    hi. Thanks Kim.

however, i wasnt actually refering to using zen cart as shopping cart. I was wandering how i would go about adding a shopping cart to an existing site without using zen cart.

This is not what i want to do, but i would like to know how it could be done.

    Thanks.

You could always build the Zen Cart in its own folder and link it to the main site. The other option is to build the entire site using Zen Cart.

    Thanks.

However... i want to know how it is done without using zen cart!

By knowing how it is achieved without using zen cart i can make a better judgement.

Perhaps this is the wrong place to post this. I will try a dedicated web development forum.

    Thanks again.

This forum is not the right place - you will need to investigate cart-less carts such as GoDaddy's Quick Shopping Cart. Typically you rent these by the month and pay a fee based on the size of your inventory.
