Fatal error: require() [function.require]: Failed opening required 'includes/application_top.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home2/pcs10000/public_html/index.php on line 26

    my site is www.pcsbypc.com

First step is to understand how all your permissions got set to 000 that sounds like something to discuss with your web host

Then you need to get them back to values that work. That's a discussion with your web host too. They will be able to run a script that resets the permissions on all your files.

I don't even know what the permissions need to be set at.

to tell them how to set it back like it was.

Start by having them set everything to 644 except for includes/configure.php and admin/includes/configure.php which should be set to 444.

Excuse me! You change all your file permissions to make them inaccessible and then point the finger at Zen Cart for being unable to access them

I didn't change anything as far as the file permissons...

    Take it easy dude...

I just want to know why if you change one thing or get one line of code wrong the whole site gose down.. you would think it would be more stable or a way that you can back up the whole site and restore it for problems like this..

There is notj=hing in Zen Cart that could have caused this. Even if it wanted to, your webhost will usually have changes of permission blocked for security reasons.

That error wasn't Zen Cart. It was from PHP, the programming language in which Zen Cart is written, as it wasn't able to access a file whose permissions forbade it too. You might just as well wonder why your car won't start after you've taken the engine out.

You can. Just zip up the files regularly and put the archive somewhere safe.
