Default PHP for Windows...Godaddy says "No"

I have read in here and in the docs that I can install Zen-Cart in a windows server. I has always been my understanding that PHP cannot run on Windows. I called Godaddy and they told me "No, it will not work properly".

Did I ask for the correct thing?

    Are they correct?

    I don't understand.

PHP will run on Windows. I'm currently using it on a few of my servers.

Maybe GoDaddy do not offer Windows boxes with PHP.

Do a search on the forum for godaddy and I believe you will find they are a host to stay away from.

Here's a better place to start, but Godaddy may have it blocked in some way.

My coffee kicked in this morning I wanted to clear something up for you. Most of the threads in here that talk about php on windows is talking about having it either on IIS for windows xp, or for vista.

Most of the time people simply load Xammp or Wamp to load an apache server on their windows xp server.

You don't want to do that on a real windows server, it will use resources that will eventually cause godaddy or any host to shut you down. if they would even allow you to run it.

Now if godaddy said it wont work, then it's possible that they have their server setup where you don't have the right permissions to set it up.

However give it a try anyway and see if you can do this.

If godaddy don't support php on their windows server could they just not move your account to a linux server?

Don't marry yourself to GoDaddy hosting unless you're absolutely certain they're the best host for your needs.

There are many better choices out there ...
