Having an issue

I posted this earlier in the upgrade section but not sure that was the appropriate place to put it and I apologize for posting again, but I need help on this one.

I currently run Zen 1.3.7 and saw that there was an upgrade. I decided that after reading the upgrade instructions that maybe a better course of action for me would be to just do a fresh install of Zen 1.3.8 as a test site, get it the way i wanted it and then delete the Zen 1.3.7.

So, i did the install....success. Now, i wanted to restore a backup from my zen 1.3.7 into my test 1.3.8. I created a new database for the 1.3.8. I was unsure how to transfer my backup from 1.3.7, so I called Tech support with my hoster.

He had me remove all the items in the 1.3.8 database and then import the database from 1.3.7. ok.....did it

Now however, I cannot log in to my admin. Of course, I used the same email address as I did for 1.3.7, and I will say that before i imported the 1.3.7 database, i was able to log into my admin.

So now I am stuck. I cannot get into my test site and do not know what needs to be done so that i can. Did i restore the database incorrectly? Were there things in the new database (like my admin settings) that were deleted when I followed tech's instructions? Should i just do the install again and then figure out how to restore the database in a different way? I need some assistance please.

Re: Having an issue

If you imported the entire database from 1.3.7 then all the Admin settings including your email and password should have gone with it.

If you still can't log in using your 1.3.7 information, you might want to try approach from this FAQ Entry, making sure to only make changes to your "new" database.

Re: Having an issue

I am having an issue as well. I can not get the installation to get past the database set up. I continually get an Error encountered while writing /includes/configure.php more info... I have changed the permissions on ALL my files to be read/write/execute/delete and it still will not work. I am truely frusterated I know this has to be a simple fix but I have stared at it for so long now I honestly can not see what is wrong... ANY IDEAS??????

Re: Having an issue

Could you post the precise wording of the error message? (but obscure any references to your domain name).
