enabling Curl support in php

I' m new in the e business. I just bought the book e-start your web store with zen-Cart from goh koon hoek. I'm trying to install zen-cart in my laptop before hosting it.

According to the book page 40 to enable curl i have to remove the semicolon in front of the words ;extension=php_curl.dll so i should only have only extension=php_curl.dll in my folder Xampp/apache/bin/php.ini


that is what i did but does not work . I did upload the zen-cart -v1.3.7.1 as recommended and did the installation. On page 48 it is written to make sure that the php cURL field shows up as on. But it is off so i did refer at page 40 and did what they say but nothing.

Could someone help me please. I think that it will take me forever reading thhe book.

Try restarting your Apache again after making the change to see if the
change has been effected as indicated on the installation screen.
