    Default 1.3.5 upgrade to 1.3.8a

    Hello -

I am moving our zencart 1.3.5 to Rackspace Cloud Sites.

    They only support PHP5.

I have read that 1.3.8a supports PHP5 so I need to upgrade.

Is there a tutorial for this upgrade?

    Thanks in advance.

[FYI - I have changed the admin dir for security concerns]

Depending upon if your install has used the override system regiously - this can be simple or a bit more involved

If you did not follow the override convention - first create your own template and capture your present customizations before upgrading

    Thanks for the reply.

I did not initially install zen cart and I'm not sure if there are mods even in the system.

Maybe you can tell - http://store.linworth.com

I know the books, authors, reviews might be add-ons?

If so, is there anyway to find out if they used the override system?

    Thanks in advance!

The only positive way to be able to determine adhreence to override system is to:
    1. Become familiar with the system
    2. Get a diff program like winmerge(free) or beyond compare
    3. Download your exact version distribution
    4. Download your full working shop
    5. Run a comparison between default fileset and yours and note all of the differences.
    6. If you have add-ons, files for them are most likely not part of the default set and will be noted as existing only in your set. Also most modules that replace a core file will be commented as such.

As a normal rule, no core files should be altered as changes should be to overridden files.

Your overrides should be contained in your template folders named for your active template "linworth"

Once completed - Upgrade following the tutorial
