Ahh, forgot one single thing: how would images be uploaded, since it is store on the catalog side. Let me think about it a bit.

I'll check you up later...
Since image is stored on category side, we have to:
When adding product on admin, upload image to the other server.
Some code re-written needed to be done here. Be ready to get your hands dirty.
.......
I have just checked it, you said you have 2 shops, and want to update them from the same admin page. Huhm, you really need to install "MultiSite Module". I thought that you need 1 admin and 1 catalog only.

As a matter of fact , i mean two servers not two shops. As we were, 1 catalog on one server and admin on the other server this is exacly my plan, so admin act as a standalone, so we are on the right path.
The other server has no catalog at all, just the admin folder will reside in in this server.
May I ask the reason why again? Because on your previous post you said you have 2 shops and want to update both on 1 admin, which is not the case here.
Regards.

Yes I do have two shops on 2 servers.
I have removed the catalog on server 1, left with the admin/ folder. ( I intend to dedicate this server to my client.
Presently I use zencart for most of my clients, as either cms or ecommerce bases.
Due to clientA not having enough space on his server or what ever reason, we decided to host the clientA admin/ folder on my server and clientA will be able to administer his site fom my server.
And from the way you were going, the possibility is coming up bit by bit.
So you wanna save space: but the point is: the admin folder does not store much, maybe a few MBs? All images are stored on the catalog side.
It can even save more space if you just leave the admin there, yet have the database stored on a different server.
My point is: the only 2 things that take much space are: database and images (resided in catalog anyway), so taking the admin folder to another site won't make any difference at all.
Another thing: hosting is so cheap now, I can't even think of any host that a few MBs (of admin folder) can make a difference.
