    Default email smtp error

    Hi
I am building my first zencart site, still on my local PC (not having a domain name or hosting site yet) Couple of questions, when I go through the process of buying something, I am forced to create an account, which ends in an smtp mail error, although the account is created. I get the same error when I try a test email.
the error is Email Error: SMTP Error: Could not connect to SMTP host.
In the admin configuration e-mail, I have identified smtp as the transport method, but what do i use as the Account mailbox?

    Thanks

Have you installed a mail server program?
Please do not PM for support issues: a private solution doesn't benefit the community.

Be careful with unsolicited advice via email or PM - Make sure the person you are talking to is a reliable source.

    Hi
Thanks for the quick reply. I wasnt sure if I needed to or not, from what your saying, obviously I do!
Do you have one in mind?

I thought there may be one 'wrapped up' in the Apache software I downloaded, or is that not the case.

What would I put in the Admin - Configuration - email domain name and password, as I havnt registered one yet.

    Thanks again

    John

If you've installed XAMPP it comes with the Mercury Email Server- Just fire up your XAMPP Control Panel and click Start next to Mercury.
