Customer login

Hi,
Have installed version 1.3.7 and I want to change customer login to name and email only as I am selling digital downloads only.
Have searched FAQ and quite a few other places. Only info I have found regarded different requirements such as combining company and telephone numbers. I did see that there was mention in August 2006 that there were future
plans for incorporating more flexibility into customer login. I wonder what the current position is regarding customising the login for customers.
I am also assuming that if a customer does purchase through paypal it has no relevance to the customer login details.

Any info, advice would be appreciated.

I am also interested in this.

Would like to have customers create an account using only name, email, and password. Then if they order products, they can create shipping and billing addresses at that time.

Any help would be appreciated.

Why not login to your admin area, go to Configuration and click Minimum Values. Set all apart from First Name, Last Name, Email address and Password to 0 and then open the following file...
includes\templates\template_default\templates\tpl_modules_create_account.php
Remove the code for each of the boxes just leaving you with First Name, Last Name, Email Address and Password.
