I've done some searching but have yet to find a way to output my product attributes in my search results.

For example, I have an attribute of 'Ages'. I'd like to be able to output a column in my search result with the age, instead of making the user view the product itself to see the age.

I believe I've got to edit tpl_tabular_display.php, but would appreciate some direction.
