blank page after creating account

Hi

I've just installed my zen cart store a recently and have been configuring it, but today I tested creating a new account, when I submit, it doesn't take me to the create_account_success page, instead it gives me a blank page and the URL is still at the create_account page, although I can enter the create_account_success page manually in the address bar, and the account was shown as created and I could log in.
I have also just installed a test store from scratch and its create account pages works without problem, so I know it's not my host.
I havn't made any changes to the pages, apart from the down for maintainence page and added a few products and enabled paypal modules.

Can someone shed some light for me on this?

Hi and Welcome to the Forum.

First question to ask is whether SSL is being used?
Second is whether you've done any editting/customizing to Theme or Core files? Can we presume you are using the Default Theme with both sites?

Thanks for you reply.
I am using SSL for both.
I don't believe I have edited any core or theme files, as I just installed 1.3.8 a few days ago to replace my 1.3.7 installation.
The theme is the default for both installations.
I also tried it with SSL off and it still came up blank.

Are both sites on the same Hosting account?
Are both sites using the same Admin settings and/or any modules you installed?

URLs are always helpful as then people trying to help can see exactly what you see but sometimes see things that were otherwise missed.

Yes, both sites are using the same hosting account, they are just set in different folders.
All the modules are the originally included modules.
No additional themes or modules have been installed.
The admin settings have been changed for one, the other is default.

I tried the freshly installed cart with the original problematic cart's database, and it turned out the new cart came out with the same problem, so it seems to me that there is something wrong with my database for the first cart.

So would my best way to solve this problem is just to install a new cart from scratch?

Methinks that would be where the problem was created.

Whenever a problem site is still in a testing phase, it can sometimes be faster to start over. This doesn't mean from scratch, unless you editted Core files.

Usually, depending upon how far from scratch you want to start, you can "quick-start" by droping your database and recreating it. Do this through phpMyAdmin. Choose your database and you will then see a bunch of Tabs on the right. Last one is called "Drop" and that's what you use.

This will empty your database but still leave it intact, including login information. Then reupload the "zc_install" directory and start as if a new install. Your 'new' database will be created and away you go.
