Cross-selling module - during upgrade?

Since, I need to do a Zen Cart upgarde about every year, whathappens to module databases/table such as the Cross Sell module. If this has to be re-installed, do I lose all current data (cross sells) or is this just a atble within database?

They are add-ons, not belong to zen original tables and will remain the same. However, you always have to back up as a rule of thumb.
