Hi, I am having problems with Zen Cart email options. I keep getting the error:

Email Error: The following From address failed: example######################.au

I tried doing many things but failed to succeed. my settings for the Email Options are below:

E-Mail Transport Method smtp
E-Mail Linefeeds LF   
Use MIME HTML When Sending Emails false   
Send E-Mails true   
Verify E-Mail Addresses Through DNS false   
Email Archiving Active? true   
E-Mail Friendly-Errors false

I get a similar SMTP Error when I send e-mails from the admin!
"Email Error: SMTP Error: The following recipients failed:..."
I know there's nothing wrong with the recipients e-mail cause I tried it with my own, wich works and receives fine.
Please help or point us to the right thread - I can't seam to find anything that helps..

I'd suggest perhaps setting this to Yes:
Emails must send from known domain?


What version of Zen Cart are you using?

Thank you for you fast reply! I'm using 1.3.7.
I just changed my E-Mail Transport Method in the admin settings to PHP instead of SMTP and tried again. Now the e-mail was send fine!
I had it on SMTP all along and never had a problem befor..so I don't know why that change worked - just happy it did.

Thanks for the fast replies! I am using version 1.3.7.1 of Zen Cart. I checked my updates and it says that it appears to be current.

I tried setting Emails must send from known domain? to YES. This didn't fix the problem.

Could it be something that I have to fix with the server?

Hey again.

I finally managed to fix the problem. I've set the setting to smtpauth and now it can send emails. I tried doing this before and it didn't work but now it did.

Yes, changing your Email Transport to SMTPAUTH should work better since Yahoo requires authentication.

Also, v1.3.8 is the latest version, as of today.

i am still having problems getting mail to work....
I am running easyphp on win xp pro sp2
i get an error when using PHP ->could not instantiate function
i read all the threads about it and tried all i could still no go
when i use SMTP (having IIS running) i get the From address failed no matter what email i put in there..... i have the smtp host being localhost. if i put smtp.gmail.com or mail.domainsite.com i get SMTP Error: Could not connect to SMTP host... and i always get that when i put it on SMTPAUTH.
the only options that i get no errors from are sendmail and sendmail -f BUT no emails are sent...

so any suggestions?

Unless you are running a mailserver on your local PC, you'll probably have difficulty sending any email unless you specify the mailserver of your personal ISP email account.
Or change your port 25 to a port that's not blocked by your home ISP provider.

But then again ... email surely cannot be a critical component of a test area running from a home PC?
When you move your site to a real live webserver, you'll find that it'll likely work immediately when you use the mail settings pertaining to your live webserver.
