Adding options to an entire category?

Is there any way to add a certain option name to an entire product category? For example, if I have an option named 'Size', can I add that option to the entire 'Clothes' category, without having to add it manually to each item within that category?

Look at Catalog > Attributes Controller. At the top of the page is a row of buttons, one of which is "copy to category" or something like that.
