Default Attribute keeps adding base price

Ok so I set up the product and put in the price of $70.00 I went into attributes and added sizes (lengths) 10" thru 30". But everytime I price each length it automatically adds the base price of $70.00 and I don't know why.

    Example:

    12" $83.00 - shows up $153
    14" $93.00 - shows up $163

I went into attributes controller and just added the difference between my base price and the price for the different lengths but it shows up as (+13.00), (+23.00) on my website and I don't want them to see the difference, just the actual pricing.

    Can anyone help me pleeeeeeeeeeeaaaase

On your category/products set it at the base price of 70 and choose the option priced by attributes.

Then in your attributes controller, set one item as base price and the rest without the "+", another words delete the "+" sign next to the price you want. And make only the lowest priced item in your case 70 to be "include in base price". The rest do not select that option.

    Did you understand all that?

After reading my own post, I can see how you will probably get confused. Let me break it down....

    Base (lowest price) 70
    10" 80
    30" 100

    Products/category
set item to 70 and price by atrribute "ON"

    Attribute Controller
set 70 item as first entry with "include base price" "ON" and delete "+" sign next to the price.
set 80 item as second entry with "Include base price" "OFF" and delete "+" sign next to the price.
set 100 item as third entry with "include base price" "OFF" and delete "+" sign next to the price...

    Hope that was better....

thanks Nrg77, as weird as it may sound, I did understand your first post. Even more so than others terminology on here

But I tried that and it still isn't working. In my store, when you click on the product it states "starting at $140" which again is the base price plus the base price. And the other products are still adding the base price. http://www.contagioushair.com

I just don't get it. Two weeks ago my hosting provider just disappeared along with my zen which I had majority of my products on and my attributes worked fine then. Now I got my hosting back up with someone else, the only thing different now is I added a few more attributes (size & service options) but I don't see how that could cause a problem. They are working fine.

I need to be live by Monday guys! Help

I'm beginning to think it's a bigger problem. I have moved onto my other products and I keep getting the same thing. If I mark price by attributes in catalog/products, then it automatically doubles the price on my shopping cart.

    ex:

    Natural Straight Hand-tied Weft
    $150.00

When it's only supposed to be $75. I hate to report this as a bug if it isn't?

OK, try this. If you mark it priced by attributes, "DON'T" put a price on the product.. Instead put it on the attributes...That should work for you.

Is this how you would advise me to handle stuff on my bookstore too? I have books with paperback and hardcover editions, each of which is differently priced. I have been wondering how to set the two different prices.

Assuming the above works, will all the other features work too- that is, if a customer chose 6 copies of the hard cover edition of a book, will the cart automatically calculate 6 x the price of the hard cover edition defined in the attribute?

    Thanks,
    meeven

The logic is if you want to have an item with attributes without having to have hard cover seperated with soft cover, then yes, the way I mentioned will work.

Otherwise you can simply add the hard cover and soft cover as a seperate item.

Although the way I said works, ZC has yet to be able to have special pricing on selected attributes only so that might be a reason you want to seperate your items.
