Prevent orders untill after xmas

Is there an easy way to prevent new order till after Jan 1?

My suggestion would be to take the order but simply advise you won't be initiating work until after Christmas. But if you really want to not take the order at all, you could always turn off all your payment modules or shipping modules ... I think this will block checkout (test to be sure).

Another way could be to change your store status to showcase only

Admin>Configuration>My Store>Store status
Change the setting here accordingly
Store Status
What is your Store Status
0= Normal Store
1= Showcase no prices
2= Showcase with prices
