Displaying shipping estimator inline in shopping cart?

Hi all,

I normally like to work through these problems myself but I am finding I have less free time available these days (Self employed - Married with children)

I want to display the shipping estimator information inline on the shopping cart page to eliminate the popup and also so I can add the estimated shipping price to the shopping cart total

Does anyone have any tips or code examples that may help

If I get the time to sort this myself I will post the code in this thread for anyone who may be interested.

It sounds like you are looking to create a new Order Total module. Why don't you copy the ot_shipping module- call it ot_estimated_shipping and hack that. The source module is in includes/modules/order_total and the language file is in includes/languages/english/modules/order_total. You will need to copy them both.

Thats exactly right - and thankyou for the location of the source files - I will start modifying this week.

For the time being, I have set the Shipping estimator to show on the checkout page by going to Admin>Configuration>Shipping/Packaging and changed the estimator display setting to '2' to display it in the cart!

You can also turn on shipping (not in a pop-up) by doing the following from the admin:

Configuration > Shipping / Packing

and setting "Shipping Estimator Display Settings for Shopping Cart" equal to "2".

I can not get my shipping estimator to Display as Listing on Shopping Cart Page on my test site 1.3.8a I have it set to 2 and it is not displaying

I am not sure if this has something to do with it, but my bottom banner (credit card images) does not show either.

Looks like your google checkout code has busted the shopping cart template.

I just added something to my cart, which took me to the shopping-cart page where you said you were having a problem.

Then I noticed that the page footer wasn't present.
So, I clicked on View Source in the browser, and the end of the code was something related to Google Checkout, but nothing after that ... which suggested that there was a bug in the Google Checkout code.
